Dan Ryan local lanes temporary closures begin Oct. 12
CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that routine maintenance of the graphic medallions mounted on the retaining walls along the Dan Ryan Expressway (Interstate 90/94) between 51st and 59th streets, in Chicago, will begin, weather permitting, Monday, Oct. 12.
To complete the work, the public should expect intermittent daytime and overnight shoulder and lane closures in both directions of the Ryan local lanes between 51st and 59th streets.
The six large decorative graphic medallions were designed by professional artists and Chicago Public Schools students. They were installed in 2007.
The work is anticipated to be completed in late November.
The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
