First Avenue closure in North Riverside on Nov. 16

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs by Canadian National Railroad to the crossing on First Avenue (Illinois 171) north of Cermak Road (22^nd Street), in North Riverside, will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

A detour will use Cermak Road, Des Plaines Avenue and Roosevelt Road. The work is being overseen by the railroad and is expected to be completed by 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.

The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
