SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that Florence Bridge on Illinois 106 over the Illinois River in Scott County will be closed until further notice due to a vehicle accident causing significant damage to the bridge.

Detours have been posted utilizing Illinois 100, U.S. 54 and Interstate 72. Signs are in place to direct traffic during this closure.

Motorists can expect delays and will need to use an alternate route. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
