I-474 westbound lane closure begins Jan. 29

PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the left lane of westbound Interstate 474 just south of the I-74/I-474/Illinois 6 interchange will be closed starting Jan. 29.

The lane closure is expected to remain in place for two weeks and is necessary for continued work to rehabilitate the bridges over Kickapoo Creek.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
