I-74 ramp, lane closures in Urbana set Nov. 18-19

URBANA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the ramp to westbound Interstate 74 as well as one lane of westbound I-74 at the University Avenue interchange (exit 185) in Urbana will close Nov. 18.

The closures are necessary to complete repairs to the bridge that carries the on- and off-ramps to I-74 from University Avenue and are expected to last two nights. Work will occur from 9 pm to 6 am.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
