Illinois 10 road closure starts July 8
CHAMPAIGN – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Illinois 10 (Springfield Avenue) is set to close to traffic beginning July 8, weather permitting.
The road closure is necessary to replace a bridge carrying Springfield Avenue over Copper Slough with a culvert, just east of Duncan Road. The work is expected to be completed in approximately 5 months. Detours will be posted.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
