Illinois 117 work begins March 6

EUREKA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that construction on Main Street (Illinois 117) in Eureka, from the southern city limit to Mill Street, begins March 6.

The project involves pavement resurfacing and replacing curbs and gutters. Lane closures will be required with the work, which is expected to be complete in October.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
