Lane closures scheduled at I-270/Illinois 111 interchange in Madison County
PONTOON BEACH – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that lane closures are scheduled at the Interstate 270/Illinois 111 interchange in Madison County beginning, weather permitting, at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, for guardrail repairs.
- On Illinois 111, the outside lanes at the new I-270/Illinois 111 interchange will be closed. One lane will remain open to traffic through the work zone. The work on Illinois 111 is expected to be completed by the end of the week, weather permitting.
- On westbound I-270, two lanes will be closed between Illinois 255 and Illinois 111. One lane will remain open to traffic. The westbound I-270 work is expected to be completed in one day, weather permitting.
These lane closures are part of ongoing work associated with the recently completed I-270/Illinois 111 interchange reconstruction.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this lane closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
