Lick Creek Road closure begins Nov. 3

CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that work on the Interstate 57 concrete overlay project in Union and Johnson counties will require an 18-day closure of Lick Creek Road at the I-57 interchange. Northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps at the Lick Creek interchange will also be closed.

Weather permitting, the closure will begin at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, and is expected to reopen by 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21. The closure is necessary to allow crews to replace the existing pavement on Lick Creek Road.

Motorists should seek alternate routes during the closure. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
