Overnight traffic diversions on I-57 in Mount Vernon for Illinois 15 overpass construction
MOUNT VERNON – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that Interstate 57 traffic in Jefferson County will be diverted overnight Monday, June 1, through Wednesday, June 3, for structural steel placement on the Illinois 15 overpass.
Closures are scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting.
Traffic will be routed around the work zone using the entrance and exit ramps at the Mount Vernon interchange.
Flaggers will be on site during overnight operations to direct traffic and assist motorists through the interchange.
In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen delays, the work will be rescheduled.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
