Public comment sought on proposed Illinois 177 improvements in St. Clair County

MASCOUTAH – The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to discuss a study for the proposed improvements on Illinois 177 in Mascoutah. The meeting will be held:

Wednesday, March 18
4-7 p.m.
Mascoutah High School
1313 W. Main St., Mascoutah

The project involves replacing the existing pavement on Illinois 177 in Mascoutah that was originally constructed in 1921 and last rehabilitated in 2002. The project will also evaluate intersection improvements, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and drainage improvements. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the project and obtain public input.

Handouts and display boards will be available for public review, along with information on engineering, land acquisition and environmental processes. Representatives from IDOT and the project consultant, Juneau Associates Inc., will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. The meeting will be held in an open house format. No formal presentation will be made. Meeting materials will also be available on the project website for review and comment.

The public is invited to submit comments for consideration during the project design. A comment form will be provided at the meeting and on the project website at https://idot.click/IL-177-St-Clair.

Full closure on I-55 at I-80 over four consecutive nights
CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild the Interstate 80 bridges over I-55 in Joliet, Channahon and Shorewood, a full closure will be required in both directions of I-55 at I-80 over four consecutive nights beginning, weather permitting, Monday, March 2. The closures are necessary to safely remove existing steel beams and install new steel beams on I-80 bridges over the expressway.
