Public hearing on Oct. 15 to discuss
Adams St. bridge replacements in Peoria
PEORIA –The Illinois Department of Transportation is inviting the public to attend an open house public hearing on Thursday, Oct. 15, to provide information and gather input on the proposed replacement of the Adams Street bridges over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific railroads.
The project limits are from northeast of the Adams Street and Interstate 474 interchange to east of Oregon Street in Peoria.
Proposed improvements include:
- Replacement of the two bridges over the railroads
- Sidewalk upgrades
- The addition of a multi-use path along Adams Street
- Permanent removal of access to Oregon Street from Adams Street
- This access change is proposed to minimize impacts resulting from needed changes to the vertical profile for the Adams Street bridge.
- The project would also impact the Peoria Park District’s Trewyn Park, a conservation area maintained by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
- Approximately 0.07 acre out of the 19.41 acres within the park would be converted for highway use.
The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.
at the Manual High School foyer,
811 S. Griswold St., Peoria
All interested parties are invited to stop by at any time during the meeting to view displays, discuss design concepts with IDOT staff, ask questions and provide public comments. There will be no formal presentation. Comments can be submitted at the meeting, mailed to the address listed below or submitted electronically to the email address listed below. Comments received by Nov. 16 will become part of the public meeting record.
