Public invited to provide input on project in Morrison on July 16
DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a public meeting for proposed improvements to U.S. 30 through Morrison in Whiteside County on Wednesday, July 16. The event will be from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison St., Morrison.
This meeting will be held in an open house format with no formal presentation. The public is invited to attend at any time during the hours listed to view informational displays, speak with project representatives, ask questions and share feedback.
IDOT is currently conducting a Phase I preliminary engineering and environmental study for the improvement of more than two miles of U.S. 30 in Morrison from west of Illinois 78 north to just east of Jackson Street. The study involves reconstruction of the aging pavement of U.S. 30, adding turn lanes and a bi-directional turn lane to help with turning movements and congestion.
The project also includes drainage, culvert and safety improvements as needed. Pedestrian, ADA and bicycle accommodations will also be considered per IDOT’s Complete Streets policy. It will have extensive coordination with the city of Morrison, Morrison Historical Society and other project stakeholders.
