Public meeting for Illinois 84 in Colona March 18

DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a public meeting from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, to present information, review improvement concepts and receive public comments as part of a study for proposed work on Illinois 84 in Colona. The meeting will take place at Scott Family Park, 5775 Poppy Garden Road in Colona.

This meeting will be held in an open house format, and there will not be a formal presentation. The public is invited to attend at any time during the hours listed.

The study will focus on Illinois 84 from the Rock River to 0.2 mile north of U.S. 6 in Colona. The project proposes to reconstruct Illinois 84 just west of Seventh Street to the BNSF tracks and patching and resurfacing south of the BNSF tracks. This project also proposes signalizing the intersection of Illinois 84 and Cleveland Road. Construction is currently funded.

Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve more than 3,000 miles of highway and nearly 10 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. Accomplishments through Year Five of Rebuild Illinois include approximately $16 billion of improvements statewide on 6,541 miles of highway, 686 bridges and 986 additional safety improvements.
