Ruby Street bridge over Des Plaines River in Joliet overnight full closure

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs to the bridge carrying Ruby Street over the Des Plaines River, in Joliet, will require an overnight full closure of the bridge starting at, weather permitting, 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Oct. 15.

The closure is necessary to make repairs to the bridge deck metal grating. The work is anticipated to be completed by 7 a.m. Friday.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
