Single lane traffic remains on Quincy Memorial Bridge

Limited crossing opportunities for truck and farm traffic

QUINCY – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that single lane traffic will be necessary on the Quincy Memorial Bridge (eastbound U.S. 24) over the Mississippi River, including weekends, to address ongoing repairs.

Additionally, the Quincy Police Department is offering scheduled escorts for farm equipment and wide loads to cross the river. Drivers of farm equipment and wide loads (12 feet or wider) are asked to contact the Quincy Police Department at 217-228-4470 to schedule a crossing in advance.

The bridge’s replacement is included in IDOT’s latest multi-year program as a joint project with the Missouri Department of Transportation, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in 2029.
