Southbound I-57 closure begins June 26

CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that southbound Interstate 57 will be closed to traffic between exit 30 and exit 45 in Williamson and Union counties beginning at 7 p.m. today, June 26, for emergency pavement repairs.

A posted detour will direct southbound I-57 traffic to eastbound Interstate 24, just south of Marion. Northbound I-57 traffic will remain open.

The repairs are expected to be completed the following morning, and all lanes reopened by 7 a.m. Friday, June 27.
