Stop sign installation in Durand begins Oct. 26
DURAND – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that weather permitting, stop sign installation at the intersection of Illinois 70 and Illinois 75 in Winnebago County will begin on Monday, Oct. 26. The intersection is located just south of Durand.
Work will convert the intersection into a four-way stop. Currently, traffic on Illinois 70 must stop at Illinois 75. Other features being installed at the intersection include signing and pavement markings.
The project is scheduled to be completed by 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. There will be message boards on both directions of Illinois 75 for a week reminding motorists of the stop sign changes.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zone areas, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
