Temporary lane closures Saturday on I-290 in Itasca

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a routine inspection of the bridge that carries the Metra Milwaukee District West Line over the Eisenhower Expressway (Interstate 290), in Itasca, will require temporary lane closures, weather permitting, Saturday, Oct. 19.

In order to complete the inspection, a moving closure will take place on both sides of the expressway near Irving Park Road (Illinois 19), between 6 and 11 a.m. A minimum of two lanes in both directions will remain open at all times.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternative routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
