U.S. 30 Mississippi River bridge work is underway

WHITESIDE COUNTY – The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced today that work is underway on the U.S. 30 Mississippi River bridge near Fulton. Work will include a bridge inspection and repairs to the structure.

One lane will be closed on the bridge from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Flaggers and signs will be used to maintain traffic during the project, which is scheduled to be completed by 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. ​ To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. ​ Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Construction on I-70 at the Altamont interchange begins April 6
EFFINGHAM – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the first phase of a three-year bridge replacement and pavement reconstruction project on Interstate 70 at Altamont begins Monday, April 6. The $32.7 million project consists of reconstructing the I-70 bridges at the Altamont interchange, repairs to the bridges just west of the interchange and reconstruction of the pavement, adding auxiliary lanes for the interchange loop ramps and the full reconstruction of outer ramps.

Public meeting on April 8 to discuss Illinois 50 improvements in Kankakee
KANKAKEE – The Illinois Department of Transportation is inviting the public to attend an informational public meeting on Wednesday, April 8, to view and comment on the preliminary engineering and environmental study for the improvement of Illinois 50 from south of Brookmont Boulevard to Jeffrey Street in Kankakee.
