U.S. 45 full closure in Vernon Hills Oct. 2

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs by Canadian National Railroad to the crossing on U.S. 45 north of Deerpath Drive, in Vernon Hills, will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2.

A detour will use Mundelein Road (Illinois 83) south, Half Day Road (Illinois 22) east to Milwaukee Avenue (U.S. 45/Illinois 21) north. Westbound traffic will detour via Milwaukee Avenue and Illinois 60 (Townline Road).

The work is being overseen by the railroad and is expected to be completed by 9 a.m. Friday, Oct 9.

The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.

Inbound I-55 overnight full closures

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that as part of ongoing repairs to the bridge carrying Black Road over Interstate 55, in Shorewood, two overnight full closures will be required this week on the inbound expressway. The closures are necessary to safely remove and install steel support beams over the expressway.
