Virtual public meeting for Illinois 84 and 92 in Silvis March 11

DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a virtual public meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, to present study information, review improvement concepts and receive public comment as part of a study for Illinois 84 and 92 through Silvis. The study limits are from west of 19th Street to the Illinois 5 interchange.

Participants can register to attend the meeting by visiting https://bit.ly/IL84IL92PMREGISTER. In addition to a presentation of exhibits and maps, the meeting will include the opportunity to ask questions.

Illinois 84/Illinois 92, or First Avenue in Silvis, is a principal arterial in the IDOT road network and an important east-west corridor through the city of Silvis and eastern parts of the Quad Cities. The concrete pavement was originally constructed in 1938, and the road carries over 9,000 vehicles and heavy trucks daily. IDOT initiated the project to evaluate rehabilitation and reconstruction concepts because of the poor condition of the existing road.

At the virtual public meeting, stakeholders will review existing conditions and study data to date and explore geometric concepts for improvements, including the addition of bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. Following a presentation, members of the IDOT and professional consultant project team will host a live question-and-answer panel.

This project is currently in Phase I: Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Studies and is expected to conclude with a final report in winter 2026. The project is then expected to move to Phase II: Final Design & Construction Plans.

Meeting materials and a recording of the public meeting will be posted to the project website at https://idot.click/il-84-92-silvis. Comments and questions are encouraged at any time. Comments received by Wednesday, March 26, will be included in the public meeting record.
