Washington Street in East Peoria to close May 26

EAST PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Washington Street between Veterans Drive and Camp Street in East Peoria will close May 26.

The closure is necessary to remove and replace expansion joints on the bridge over Farm Creek and is expected to last until mid-August. A detour will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
