Weekend closure of Illinois 34 begins Dec. 5

CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a project to replace two culverts in Saline County will require a weekend closure of Illinois 34 in both directions, approximately 4.5 miles west of Galatia, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, weather permitting.

Illinois 34 will be closed from West End Road to Ebenezer Road. McFarland Road will remain open for traffic crossing Illinois 34.

A posted detour using Illinois 149, Illinois 37 and Illinois 13 will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure. Work is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Illinois 203 lane closures in St. Clair County begin May 11
MADISON – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that road repairs on Illinois 203 between Collinsville Road and the Madison County line in St. Clair County will require daily lane closures beginning, weather permitting, Monday, May 11. Lane closures on I-55/70 in St. Clair County begin May 18
MADISON – The Illinois Department of Transportation is continuing multiple coordinated improvements along the Interstate 55/70 corridor in St. Clair County to improve safety, mobility and road conditions. Beginning Monday, May 18, lane closures will be in place at the following locations to allow for pavement and structure repairs.
