Weekend closure of Illinois 37 in Williamson County begins Sept. 18

CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a culvert replacement project in Williamson County will require a weekend closure in both directions of Illinois 37 at Arcadia Lake Road, just 4.5 miles south of Marion between Hudgens Road and Grassy Road, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, weather permitting.

A posted detour utilizing Illinois 148 and Interstate 57 will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure.

The work is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
