Cedar Street Bridge, ramp closures in Peoria underway

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that as part of the ongoing overhaul of the Cedar Street Bridge (Illinois 8/116) across the Illinois River, Cedar Street from Washington Street in Peoria to Main Street in East Peoria and all ramps at Edmund Street in East Peoria are closed starting today, April 7.

The closures are necessary for mainline milling and paving work to be completed, and the work is expected to last one week (weather permitting).

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
