Center Street under Cedar Street Bridge extension to close April 29
Edmund Street to reopen
EAST PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Center Street under the Cedar Street Bridge extension (Illinois 8/16) in East Peoria will close April 29.
The closure is necessary so that crews can paint the Cedar Street overpass, with work expected to last about six weeks. Additionally, Edmund Street under Cedar Street will reopen with painting wrapping up on that overpass.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
