2/26/2025 UPDATE: Illinois 59 (Hough Road), between Illinois 22 and Cuba Road, is open in both directions.

Shoulder work will continue over the next couple of days. The public should continue to watch for water on the pavement. ​ ​ ​ ​

 

Emergency closure on Illinois 59 in North Barrington

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that Illinois 59 (Hough Road), between Illinois 22 and Cuba Road, in North Barrington, is closed due to a drainage issue, causing heavy icing on the road.

A posted detour will direct traffic to Northwest Highway (U.S. 14) and Illinois 22. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained. Updates will be provided when the road is reopened.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment. ​ ​

Overnight lane, ramp closures on I-80 next week

ONARGA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that weather permitting, Interstate 57 at the Illinois 54 interchange in Onarga will be closed for three consecutive nights starting Tuesday, Dec. 16. All lanes to reopen today on I-24 Ohio River Bridge as Phase 1 wraps up
