Emergency closures on I-80 in Joliet and Rockdale
CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that the following ramp and lanes on Interstate 80 and on Center Street, in Joliet and Rockdale, are closed for emergency repairs.
- Eastbound I-80 ramp to northbound Center Street, anticipated to reopen by the evening rush Friday, June 13.
- Northbound Center Street between Meadow Avenue and I-80, anticipated to reopen by the evening rush Friday, June 13.
Motorists should consider alternative routes to avoid the area. Local streets are unable to accommodate heavy or wide trucks so other interstate routes are encouraged.
The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
