Emergency lane closures on I-80

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that there are rolling lane closures this morning on westbound and eastbound Interstate 80, between Ridge Road and Larkin Avenue (Illinois 7), in Joliet and Minooka, to complete emergency pothole repairs. The repairs are expected to be finished and the lanes reopened by the evening rush today.

Heavy congestion is anticipated. Motorists should consider alternative routes to avoid the area. Local streets are unable to accommodate heavy or wide trucks so other interstate routes are encouraged.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
