Eureka Street at Adams Street to close May 6
PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that, weather permitting, the intersection of Eureka Street and Illinois 29 (Adams Street) will close next week, as early as May 6.
The closure is necessary for drainage and concrete work that is part of the McClugage Bridge project. The improvements at this intersection are part of the work that will eventually connect the new multiuse path on the McClugage to Peoria’s Rock Island Greenway trail system.
The closure is expected to last approximately one month.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
