Illinois 116 temporary lane closure starts Oct. 26
PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Illinois 116 (Harmon Highway) will be down to one lane between Griswold and Cole streets in Peoria starting Monday, Oct. 26.
The lane closures are necessary as paving work commences. Intersections mainly impacted by this will include the Martin Luther King Drive intersection and the South Laramie Street intersection. The closure is expected to continue for approximately two weeks. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
