Florence Bridge in Scott County to close for repairs on Jan. 29

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that Florence Bridge on Illinois 106 over the Illinois River in Scott County will close for repairs on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The closure is expected to last through Thursday, Jan. 30.

Repairs on the bridge are necessary due to a crash that caused significant damage to the bridge earlier this month. Detours have been posted utilizing Illinois 100, U.S. 54 and Interstate 72. Signs are in place to direct traffic during this closure.

Motorists can expect delays and will need to use an alternate route. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
