CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs by Canadian National Railroad to the crossing on Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43) south of 26th Street, in Riverside, will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19.

A detour will use Ogden Avenue (U.S. 34), First Avenue (Illinois 171) and Cermak Road. The work is being overseen by the railroad and is expected to be completed by 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct 24.

The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
