I-39 bridge preservation work underway
WENONA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that preservation projects on three Interstate 39 bridges north of Wenona in Marshall County are underway.
The work is at bridges over Township Road 29, Sandy Creek and North Fork Sandy Creek and involves a microsilica bridge deck overlay, pavement patching, drainage improvements and other miscellaneous items. To complete the work, Interstate 39 will be reduced to one lane in each direction into December.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
