I-39 closure begins Dec. 9

WENONA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that northbound Interstate 39 between Illinois 17/Wenona (exit 35) and Illinois 18/Streator (exit 41) will close at 7 a.m. Dec. 9.

The closure is necessary for emergency pavement patching and is expected to last until the following morning. A detour utilizing Illinois 251 will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
