I-474 bridge inspection set July 15

PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that routine inspection of the Shade-Lohmann Bridge, which carries Interstate 474 over the Illinois River at Peoria, begins July 15.

The inspection will reduce the westbound span to one lane, with the eastbound span already down to one lane for another project, for one day.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
