CREVE COEUR – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that daytime lane closures on the Shade-Lohmann Memorial Bridge (Interstate 474) over the Illinois River at Creve Coeur from June 12 through June 14.

The lane closures are necessary to prepare for repairs to the bridge’s structural steel, which will begin June 24. That work will reduce the eastbound span to one lane for approximately a month, after which the project will switch to the westbound lanes for an additional month.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
