I-74 bridge work in Urbana begins March 31
URBANA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that construction on Interstate 74 between Cunningham and Lincoln avenues in Urbana begins March 31.
The project involves repairs to the bridges over Cunningham Avenue/U.S. 45 (exit 184) and the north fork of the Saline Branch, just west of Cunningham. This work will reduce I-74 to two lanes in each direction through the end of November.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
