ROCK ISLAND COUNTY – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that an annual inspection is underway of the Interstate 80 Mississippi River bridge in Rock Island County.
Inspections will be done on the westbound lanes Monday, Oct. 27, and Tuesday, Oct. 28. Inspections will be done on the eastbound lanes Wednesday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Oct. 31. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times. Signs will be used to maintain traffic during the project, which is scheduled to be completed by 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
