Illinois 4 closure north of Illinois 150 intersection begins June 3

STEELVILLE – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that Illinois 4 will be closed from the intersection of Illinois 4 and Illinois 150, west of Steelville, to approximately 0.1 mile north of the intersection in Randolph County beginning, weather permitting, at 7 a.m. Tuesday, June 3.

The closure is necessary for intersection reconstruction and will remain in place through late summer.

A signed detour will direct Illinois 4 traffic east from Sparta on Illinois 154, then south on Illinois 150, reconnecting with Illinois 4. Traffic on Illinois 150 will not be affected.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
