Illinois 4 pavement preservation begins May 12

SPARTA – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that micro surfacing pavement preservation operations on Illinois 4 from 0.2 miles south of Illinois 13 to 0.3 miles north of Stevenson Drive will begin, weather permitting, Monday, May 12. ​ Two-way traffic will be maintained utilizing flaggers.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this work. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.

The work is anticipated to be completed by mid-summer.
