Illinois 6 temporary ramp closures for resurfacing set Sept. 18

PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced temporary ramp closures on all Illinois 6 ramps (northbound and southbound) between Knoxville Avenue (Illinois 40) in Peoria and Galena Avenue (Illinois 29) in Mossville on Sept. 18.

The ramp closures are for resurfacing and expected to last for approximately two hours starting at 6 a.m., weather permitting.

Detours will be posted and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes or allow for additional travel time. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve 7,107 lane miles of highway and 8.4 million square feet of bridge deck as part of Rebuild Illinois, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. Accomplishments through Year Seven of Rebuild Illinois include $25.6 billion of improvements statewide to 24,498 lane miles of highway, 959 bridges and 1,475 additional safety improvements.

Southbound Illinois 29 to close for tree removal on Sept. 21
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a tree removal project will require the closure of the southbound lanes on Illinois 29 between Interstate 55 and Tuxhorn Road. The lanes will be closed on Monday, Sept. 21 starting at 9:00 a.m. and scheduled to reopen at 2:30 p.m. Local traffic needing access to Tansey Road will be permitted.

WASHINGTON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the ramp from U.S. Business 24 (McClugage Road) to westbound U.S. 24 (Boyd Parkway) in Washington will close starting Sept. 17.
