Improvements at the North Main Street railroad crossing in Wayne City underway
EFFINGHAM – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that North Main Street (Illinois 242) in Wayne City is closed for improvements and repairs at the railroad crossing. Work has begun and is scheduled to be completed at the end of the week.
The closure is necessary to allow Norfolk Southern Railway to repair and improve its crossing. A detour utilizing Robinson Avenue (Illinois 15), West Street and Section Line Road will be in place.
It will be necessary for motorists to find an alternate route. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
