Morton Avenue bridge work begins July 8
UPDATE: Beginning Aug. 5, the right lanes in both directions of Morton Avenue will reopen and the left lanes will close through mid-September.
MORTON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that pavement patching on the Morton Avenue bridge over Interstate 74 in Morton begins July 8.
The project will require lane closures on Morton Avenue and I-74 through the end of August.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
