New traffic pattern for I-474 work near Peoria International Airport

PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that as part of ongoing work at the Interstate 474/Airport Road interchange (exit 5), the traffic pattern in the area will change July 1.

Lane closures on Airport Road will be extended through the Dirksen Parkway intersection and are subject to change daily as milling and resurfacing operations take place. The closures are expected to last about a week.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
