Nighttime work on Illinois 37 in Williamson County begins Sept. 29
MARION – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that drainage work on Illinois 37 between Wildcat Drive and Cochran Road south of Marion in Williamson County will begin, weather permitting, Monday, Sept. 29.
This phase requires intermittent road closures between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., with additional weekend closures from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Motorists should plan for periodic delays and use the marked detour. Electronic message boards will be updated daily to inform motorists of upcoming closures.
The work will replace drainage structures beneath the road. Only small segments of Illinois 37 will be closed at any given time. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
This phase of the project is expected to continue through Nov. 30.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
