Overnight Adams Street closures begin June 2
Temporary stoppages to remove bridge beams
PEORIA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that temporary overnight closures of Adams Street (Illinois 29) at the intersection with War Memorial Drive (U.S. 150) in Peoria begin June 2, weather permitting.
The closures are necessary for removal of steel beams from the old McClugage Bridge at Adams Street and will occur for about 20 minutes each night through June 6, between 8:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The direction that traffic is stopped will vary throughout the work as each beam is removed.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
