Overnight I-74 closure set Nov. 5

OAKWOOD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that westbound Interstate 74 about 1.5 miles west of the Oakwood interchange (exit 206) in Vermilion County will close starting at 9 p.m. Nov. 5.

The closure is necessary for repairs to a damaged beam on the CR 680 East bridge over I-74 and is expected to last until 5:30 a.m. Nov. 6. A detour utilizing U.S. 150 will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
