Overnight lane closure on Interstate 74 Murray Baker Bridge in Peoria starts tonight

PEORIA - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the Murray Baker Bridge will be reduced to one lane carrying Interstate 74 over the Illinois River in Peoria on April 21.

The closure is necessary for bridge washing and will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. over the next three nights.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
